The story

The story beginning. Several breakers were tripping, and the multimeter showed a short circuit, but the source was not obvious. The solution required slow box-by-box troubleshooting until the failed bathroom GFCI and damaged wiring condition were found.

The problem was difficult to locate because the failed device was not in the expected area of the apartment. Each electrical box had to be opened, disconnected, and checked carefully to isolate the short. One bathroom GFCI was badly damaged inside, and the wires appeared to have crossed inside the device. Similar issues were found in other apartment units with more complicated electrical boxes.

Work completed

Troubleshot multiple tripping breakers, checked circuits with a multimeter, opened and disconnected electrical boxes, isolated the short circuit source, identified damaged bathroom GFCI devices, replaced faulty breakers, corrected the wiring issue, and tested the repaired circuits.

Final result

The short circuit problems were located and corrected in the affected apartment units. The damaged GFCI devices and faulty breakers were addressed, and the circuits stopped tripping after the repairs were completed.
